Who we are


Bernd Nordieker was born in Germany in 1964. After studying electrical engineering at the Technische Universität Dortmund, he joined BKW in Berne, where he worked for 10 years. The tasks assigned to him during this time involved a broad variety of subject matters and leadership positions connected to safety regulations, network development planning, systems operation and power plant scheduling, amongst others. After complementary studies in Finance and Business Administration in Switzerland and the US that he graduated from with distinction, Bernd Nordieker worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM for 3 years. The reorganisation of the Swiss electricity market was a recurring theme throughout this time.

As of summer 2003, Bernd Nordieker acted as Head of Corporate Development within the BKW group, with a special focus on strategy, internal consulting and shareholdings. This included the expansion of participations, the acquisition and integration of various supply and service companies. From 2008 until 2011, Bernd Nordieker, now member of the Grids Division’s management team, headed the asset management, the technical regulatory management as well as the system management of the BKW network installations.

At the end of 2011, he was charged with managing the subproject concerning the technical transfer of the Swiss transmission networks to Swissgrid, which was in a critical state at the time. In 2013, Swissgrid successfully took over the network installations of 17 players simultaneously, without interrupting their service, and continued to operate them. From autumn 2013 until summer 2016, Bernd Nordieker acted as Head of Systems Operation Switzerland and as such successfully managed challenges like the introduction of the new network control system or the solar eclipse 2015.

Since 2017, smaller and larger projects have been successfully realised in Switzerland, Europe and worldwide, both alone and with various partners. Over time, the classic consulting mandates have been supplemented by ad-interim management and conceptual support for municipalities in the decarbonisation of local mobility has been established.
